Rodger Haines, Lecturer, University of Auckland

Rodger Haines QC is a barrister in private practice and also lecturer in Immigration and Refugee Law at the Faculty of Law, the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He has co-taught papers in Comparative Asylum Law with Professor James C Hathaway at the University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbour. He was one of the three original appointees to the New Zealand Refugee Status Appeals Authority when it was set up in 1991 and was appointed Deputy Chairperson from 1994, a position he held until the Authority was disestablished in November 2010. In those twenty years he wrote many of the Authority’s principal decisions.
