Roland  Hermann

Mr. Hermann's involvement with refugee cases began through course work with Amnesty International. He joined the refugee-branch of Amnesty International's Vienna office, specializing in legal representation of asylum seekers in detention, and later worked at the Caritas legal advice center for foreigners in Vienna. He is presently working as legal assistant to Dr. Rainer, focusing on human rights, migration and asylum matters.

Florian Newald

Mag. Newald is currently a Judge of the High Court for Asylum. Prior to this he was a member of the Independent Federal Asylum Board (UBAS) and has also previously worked as a research officer at the Austrian Constitutional Court and in various courts in Vienna, and served as an assistant to Prof. Attila Fenyves (Institute for Civil Law, Vienna University's School of Law).

A brief summary of the facts of the case is: Wife of labor unionist had twice been arrested, raped and ill-treated during public protests organized by opposition SDF party against food and fuel prices.
